Why Sauna Regularly?

Infrared saunas are increasingly popular in the health and wellness community for a number of reasons including the numerous health benefits. But you might have some questions before you get sweaty.

What WILl my sweat session be like?

For your first time, arrive a few minutes before your session in order for us to take the time to explain about the saunas and tips to enjoy your sweat.

We recommend getting nude or wearing as little as possible. Towels are provided. You will be in your own private room. If you prefer, you can wear loose comfortable clothing.

Infrared saunas are a ‘dry’ heat and quite comfortable. Relax and enjoy the sweat.

To allow your body the full benefits of the sauna session, we encourage you let your body cool down naturally and shower when you get home. However, we do have showers should you feel the need.

Drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated pre, during and post your sauna session. We will provide you with water during the session.

Limit the amount of personal care products you put on before a session, as oils and lotions tend to decrease perspiration by blocking pores. Apply these after your session for best results.

Wear loose clothing or bring some to wear home after. Trying to get into tight clothing after a sauna session can be tricky.

To relieve sore and tight muscles, massage these areas for faster healing and effectiveness.

Towel off during your session. This will help the body sweat more freely.

Dry brushing and a quick warm shower before arriving stimulates blood circulation and the lymphatic system to greatly enhance toxic elimination.

Bring a book or magazine to read, listen to some relaxing music, meditate or do nothing at all. You can bring a friend or sweat solo.

What is an infrared sauna?

While we call our Clearlight Infrared models “Saunas”, they are really infrared therapy cabins.  It just so happens that the sauna environment is a great environment to deliver infrared as you are not wearing any clothing and you are surrounded by the infrared heat.

Rather than use steam or the traditional “box of hot rocks” heating elements, the infrared sauna heaters use infrared spectrums to promote relaxation and other health benefits.  In an infrared sauna, the air temperature is less important than the quality of the infrared heat. As your body absorbs the infrared heat, this will increase your core body temperature inducing a deep and relaxing sweat.  Using your infrared sauna at lower temperatures means you can stay in longer and get more benefit.

What are infrared spectrums or wavelengths?

The sun produces a combination of visible and invisible light, and one of those invisible spectrums is infrared rays. Invisible infrared wavelengths are what makes the sun feel warm (and ultraviolet wavelengths are what makes it bright). Scientists have established that infrared waves are beneficial to the human body because they are easily absorbed, stimulating the lymphatic, immune and cardiovascular systems and also help remove toxins.  Infrared does all of this without any of the harmful rays of sunlight.

Whats the difference between Infrared Saunas Versus Traditional & Steam SaunaS?

The main difference between infrared saunas and traditional saunas is how they use heat. Traditional saunas use a single heater that is heating the air and this hot air heats the user.  In contrast, infrared saunas use advanced therapy to heat the user directly with only a small percentage of the heat heating the air. This results in a deeper sweat and at a lower ambient air temperature. In fact, infrared saunas usually operate between 50° – 70°C, while traditional saunas can get up to 92°C.

You will get all of the relaxation benefits of a traditional infrared sauna along with the increased health benefits that infrared offers all at a much more comfortable temperature.  Infrared saunas are also dry saunas and many users find this makes for a more comfortable sauna session.

What are the health benefits?

All weight loss starts with a positive diet, however, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association, regular use of a sauna imparts a similar boost on the cardiovascular system as running. As you relax in the gentle infrared heat, your body is hard at work producing sweat, pumping blood and burning calories helping with your weight loss journey.

Increased blood circulation carries off metabolic waste products and delivers oxygen-rich blood to oxygen-depleted muscle, so they recover faster.

Muscles relax best when tissues are warm, for greater flexibility and range of motion. Far Infrared heat relieves muscle tension.

The deep heating from the infrared heaters will raise your core body temperature, inducing an artificial fever. How does this benefit the body? Fever is the body’s natural mechanism to strengthen and accelerate the immune response, as seen in the case of infection.

This enhanced immune system, combined with improved elimination of toxins and wastes via intense sweating, increases your overall health and resistance to disease.

One of the biggest infrared sauna health benefits is its ability to increase your blood circulation and stimulate the sweat glands, releasing built-up toxins in the body.

Daily sauna sweating can help detoxify your body as it rids itself through the liver and skin, accumulated highly toxic metals (lead, mercury, nickel, and cadmium) as well as alcohol, nicotine, sulfuric acid, and other organic and inorganic compounds.

Since the far infrared radiant heat of the Clearlight Sauna® warms three times as deep as conventional saunas, it is significantly more effective at reducing cellulite. There is a direct link between the slowing of metabolic rates and the storage of toxins in fat cells. Sauna use and far infrared heat can increase heart rate and localised blood circulation, which essentially reverses the above-mentioned trends towards the accumulation of liquids in the fat cells to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Time spent in an infrared sauna benefits patients suffering from many forms of arthritis. Radiant heat has also been effective in the treatment of sprains, neuralgia, bursitis, muscle spasms, joint stiffness and many other muscular-skeletal ailments. Much of the stiffness, aches and soreness that comes with aging is reduced or eliminated.

Just a few minutes in the gentle warmth of an infrared sauna will help you feel relaxed, rejuvenated and renewed.

A session is a great time to get away and release any built-up tension and stress. It’s like having a day spa in your home.

Infrared Saunas have also been shown to affect the autonomic nervous system putting you in the parasympathetic (rest and digest) state allowing your body to heal.

The profuse sweating achieved after just a few minutes during your session carries off deeply embedded impurities and dead skin cells, leaving the skin glowing and immaculately clean. Increased circulation draws your skin’s own natural nutrients to the surface.

You’ll see improved tone, elasticity, texture and fresh color. Increased blood circulation has also been shown to relieve acne, eczema, psoriasis, burns, lesions and cuts. In addition, open wounds heal more quickly, reducing scarring.
